Dessert Oscar Menu 2013: Ardo

A delicious dessert you’d never leave behind, Ardo, is our choice to celebrate Argo.

Ingredients: 2 cups flour, 4 tsps. corn starch, 1 pinch salt,  1/4 oz. yeast, 1 1/4 cup water, 1/4 tsp sugar, 1 cup confectioner’s sugar, 2 tbsp. milk, 1 orange – 1 tsp. fresh squeezed orange juice & orange zest, 24 oz. canola oil

Directions: In a large bowl, add flour, corn starch, and salt – mix. Set aside, In a separate smaller bowl, add yeast, 1/4 cup water, and sugar – mix. Add this mixture to the flour mixture and stir. Gradually add a cup of water and when it’s well combined, let it sit covered for about an hour.

To make the glaze, in a bowl, add confectioner’s sugar, milk, orange juice & orange zest – mix and set aside.

When the dough has risen, it’s time to fry. In a pot, add canola oil & turn the heat on medium-to-high. When the oil is hot, carefully add spoonfuls of dough. Let cook until brown and turn – this may take only a minute – watch. Remove from oil, let sit until cool enough to touch, turn into the orange glaze, and set aside to dry. Repeat until you’ve run out of dough. They are ready to serve!
